Book'ing a Brighter India: Aviratha’s 17-Year Journey of Empowerment
In its 17th year, Aviratha’s notebook distribution drive has reached lakhs of underprivileged students, proving how a simple tool like a notebook can become a powerful agent of change across 31 districts of Karnataka.

Bengaluru, 24 June 2025 : They don’t chase the spotlight. They don’t seek applause. But for 17 years, a committed group of professionals has been quietly scripting a revolution from the bylanes of Bengaluru to the farthest corners of Karnataka. Under the banner of Aviratha Trust, this group has shown how small, consistent efforts can ignite transformative change.
Since 2009, Aviratha’s Notebook Distribution Drive has delivered 20,23,674 notebooks to underprivileged children across 31 districts of Karnataka. What began as a modest effort has now become a full-fledged campaign of empowerment — providing learning tools to children who would otherwise be forced to go without.
Not Just Pages, But Possibilities
In rural government schools, where resources are scarce and education often takes a back seat to daily survival, the arrival of new notebooks is nothing short of a celebration. “A notebook is not just a blank page — it is an entry ticket to education, to dignity, and to dreams,” says KT Satheesh, one of the founding member - volunteers of Aviratha.
For the academic year 2025-26, Aviratha aims to reach 40,000 students across 425 schools, distributing 2.6 lakh notebooks. The initiative is not just about school supplies — it’s about inclusion, equal opportunity, and nurturing the spirit of learning in children who are often the first in their families to enter a classroom.
Minds Behind the Mission
The story of Aviratha is remarkable because it is powered not by corporations or celebrities, but by everyday professionals, who dedicate their weekends, holidays, and savings to this cause. Many of them work in Bengaluru’s tech corridors during the week and travel to remote villages on weekends for assessments, planning, and distribution.
Their impact has been far-reaching, with teachers reporting increased attendance and student engagement. For children who might otherwise be pushed into labor or early marriage, education becomes a real, visible possibility when they have the basic tools in hand.
Building a Better India, Quietly
Aviratha’s work is not loud. It does not trend. But it is real. It is rooted. And it is reshaping India — one child, one school, and one notebook at a time.
As India celebrates its digital and economic progress, Aviratha reminds us that true change also begins with something as humble as paper and ink. Their model is simple, transparent, and focused on direct impact.

With your help, Aviratha can do more. People participation means a step for a better, equitable India. It’s a belief that a child with a notebook today could be a better citizen tomorrow, a better India tomorrow.
