Subramanya Hebbagelu Takes Charge as Karnataka Sangha Qatar President for 2026–28

Doha, Qatar I April 28 : 

In a significant development for the Kannada diaspora in the Gulf, Subramanya Hebbagelu has assumed office as the President of Karnataka Sangha Qatar for the 2026–2028 term, ushering in a renewed phase of community-driven leadership.

Known for his consistent involvement in community initiatives and his ability to bring people together, Hebbagelu steps into the role with a reputation for inclusive leadership and execution-focused thinking. 

His journey within the Sangha has been marked by active participation, organizational support, and a deep-rooted commitment to Kannada culture and values.

Expressing humility on taking charge, Hebbagelu described the opportunity as an honour and a responsibility to serve the community with dedication and integrity. 

He emphasized that the coming term will focus on strengthening bonds among members, celebrating Karnataka’s rich cultural heritage, and creating platforms that offer meaningful engagement across age groups.

He acknowledged the contributions of outgoing President Ravi Shetty and the 2024–2026 Management Committee, noting that their efforts have built a strong and stable foundation for future growth. 

He also paid tribute to past presidents whose leadership has shaped Karnataka Sangha Qatar into one of the most vibrant Indian community organisations in the region.

He acknowledged and appreciated the contributions of all past Presidents—Sathish Deshpande, Nagaraj, Prakash Babu, K. Prabhakar, Aravind Patil, Arun Kumar K.M., V.S. Mannangi, Deepak Shetty, H.K. Madhu, Venkat Rao, Late Mairpady Nagesh Rao, Sanjay Kudari, Mahesh Gowda, and Ravi Shetty—for their role in building and strengthening Karnataka Sangha Qatar.

He appreciated the continued dedication and service of all committee members, community leaders, and members, highlighting their role in shaping the unity and strength of the Sangha.

He emphasized that his vision is to strengthen community bonds, promote rich cultural heritage, and create meaningful opportunities for all.

“With unity and purpose, we can achieve greater milestones in the coming term,” he said.

Highlighting his roadmap, Hebbagelu stressed the importance of unity and collective progress. With shared purpose and active participation, greater milestones can achieved taking the Sangha to new height, he emphasized.

Karnataka Sangha Qatar, an associate organisation under the Indian Cultural Center functioning with the support of the Indian Embassy, continues to play a pivotal role in bringing together Kannadigas in Qatar through cultural, social, and community initiatives.

With a leader known for his grounded approach and forward-looking vision at the helm, the Sangha now looks poised for a dynamic and inclusive new chapter.

Subramanya Hebbagelu

Subramanya Hebbagelu hails from Taggarse in Baindoor (Kundapur taluk) of Udupi district, Karnataka. He has been based in Qatar for over a decade and a half, where he has built a strong presence both professionally and within the Indian diaspora community.

An engineering professional by qualification, Hebbagelu works in the infrastructure sector in Qatar, holding roles in quality control and project coordination. He is known for his disciplined approach, technical expertise, and consistent performance in large-scale projects.

He has also been recognised for his professional excellence, including receiving the Abhiyantarasri award in 2024.

Community Leadership 

Subramanya Hebbagelu has played an active and influential role in Indian community organisations in Qatar:

* Former Vice President, Karnataka Sangha Qatar

* Vice President, Indian Cultural Center (ICC), Doha

* Former Joint Secretary, Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF)
